In Asia there are crying pubs (often with karaoke), places people go specifically to let off steam and frequented a lot by businessmen. If negative emotions get trapped, no fear. Customers are helped with onions, movies and tear-jerking songs. The goal is to encourage people to cry and then put a big smile on their face. We don’t have these venues in Rome, but there are places you can go to for a good, liberating cry.
Did you know that crying is good for you? We don’t say that, but science does. In fact, tears would allow toxins and negative emotions to be expelled. Crying tears contain corticotropin, prolactin and manganese, which are present in high amounts in depressed people. After crying, the person tends to feel better; it reduces stress and produces well-being.
Here are 5 places to cry freely in the city:
Aqueduct Park
Approximately 240 hectares large and part of the great Appia Antica Park, the Aqueducts Park allows you to find an intimate place away from people’s eyes for your crying. In addition, nature will help put you in a good mood. This park is really beautiful, you also find a pond with water turtles and fish. As well as ponies on weekends.
Cinema
Cinema is one of those places where if you cry, no one notices. So we recommend watching an emotional movie that allows you to let out the accumulated stress and negative emotions. Some stories also leave a good memory–and who knows, the next day you might find yourself with a big smile on your face, happily remembering your bad mood at the movies.
The EUR pond
The EUR pond hides waterfalls that not everyone knows about in Rome. The sound of the water is a white sound that is also often used for meditation as it tends to relax the mind and body. You can also sob freely while watching the choreographed water jets.
An exhibition in town
Art excites, so why not choose a good photography exhibition in town? Photos tell stories from the past that can make us reflect on our lives and trigger memories and feelings. A good cry that enriches the soul.
The Orange Garden
Savello Park, on the Aventine Hill, is one of those timeless places with a great view of the city of Rome. It is frequented by couples, families and tourists. But it is not as crowded as Villa Borghese. It is that place that allows you to reflect, sitting on a bench, and thus admire the beauty of the eternal city that, despite the dark times, always finds a reason to shine the next morning. Even sadness is fleeting….
