For many, the word “tango” immediately evokes something sensual, romantic, hypnotic and intense. And We Call It Tango is a unique show in Rome that tells a love story through this poignant dance. The sound of the accordion, the look of the dancers, cheek to cheek, communicating with their eyes, and the harmonious movements will tell a romantic story interwoven with sadness and melancholy.
The tribute to this dynamic dance will be held at Teatro Ghione, a beautiful theater famous for performing arts in Rome. Seats are limited to attend the captivating show We Call It Tango, so find some fellow tango enthusiasts and prepare to be dazzled by the talent of the musicians and dancers.
What is We Call It Tango?
This show features three acts and thirteen tangos. It combines the story of tango with the story of Amelia and her love story that begins with “the milonga.” Professional dancers, accompanied by piano and accordion, will make every elegant gesture and sound matter as the story unfolds inside the Ghione Theater.
Tango, its music and the show
Born in Argentina in the 1880s, the tango is a couple’s dance that found international fame in Paris, London, and Berlin around 1911. To the notes of Astor Piazzolla‘s “Adiós Nonino,” Osvaldo Fresedo ‘s “Vida mía” and other breathtaking works, two dancers will bring forth a seductive and refined performance that treasures the tango.
A performance born from the same thing that inspired such lively artists as El Cachafaz and Carmencita Calderón, it is the perfect way to discover tango and its charms.
This incredible experience is not to be missed and should not be confused with “We Call It Flamenco” in Rome, a fiery show by the same creators that celebrates the beloved Spanish art form. We Call It Tango will be held at the extraordinary Teatro Ghione and doors will open 30 minutes before the concert begins.
