In our region we are lucky: there are several establishments where man’s friends can run and play freely on the beach, with no time limits. Effectively, at free beaches, they can generally walk on a leash very early in the morning and in the evening, after 7 pm. Each municipality and region then has regulations to comply with. Let’s see which establishments allow our pet to have fun together.
Sabau Beach – Sabaudia
In beautiful Sabaudia we find this small beach managed with the help of Mondocane volunteers. At this beach, our four-legged friends have free umbrella, chair, water and balls. Masters can also take cribs (5 euros per crib). Since, especially on weekends, it is difficult to find parking it is recommended to park internally and then take a shuttle towards the beach, it is necessary to check first which ones accept dogs. Sabau Beach can be reached by driving along Sabaudia’s Lungomare Pontino road to Km. 27.050.
Marinaretti – Anzio/Nettuno
In Neptune if you want to let your dog run freely there is the free Marinaretti beach frequented by surfers and young people. Other similar areas are Cretarossa, Divine Providence and Liberati Street.
BauBeach Village – Fiumicino
Baubeach Village is an establishment dedicated to our four-legged friends. Since it is an association, you have to pay for an annual membership to enter (costs 11 euros per person). Cribs are charged separately. As is the case in any dog establishment, there are rules to be followed: no dogs that are unfriendly, unmicrochipped and unvaccinated are allowed in. One thing we liked was the attention shown by the staff; there is even a fenced area for smaller dogs. Finally, find a cafe where you can eat vegan food or have an aperitif.
Where: Via di Praia a Mare, snc, 00057 Fiumicino.
DK Dog Aquatic Center
Okay we are not at the seaside, but here surely your dog will have a good time. In Rome there is a swimming pool where you can even take a bath! The indoor part of the center is open year-round and is designed for those who want to tackle a fitness or competitive course with their pet. Monday is the day for small dogs, not that during the weekend they can’t have access but they will get to play with everyone a little bit.
Here again there are rules to be followed: first and foremost, vaccination of the animal. How much does it cost? The cost for the full day for two people with sunbeds, umbrella and parking space is 50 € on weekends and 40 € Monday through Friday.
Where: Via Prenestina, 697, 00155 Rome.
Seagulls Beach – Bracciano
In the beautiful landscape of Lake Bracciano we find the free Beach of the Seagulls. Of course, there is no staffed establishment here to monitor, so everyone has to pay attention to their own dog. Since it is a free beach, you need to bring your own umbrella and water. It is reached via a path that runs alongside the Museum of Aeronautics (MUSAM).
