The bookstores we like best in Rome
Reading allows us to embark on fantastic journeys! And we want to introduce you to particular bookstores in the city–where you can find rare and very beautiful books. Some also allow you to listen to good music and grab a bite to eat.
Here are the six bookstores to discover in Rome:
1. Literary Café – Ostiense
It was in our city that Italy’s first literary café opened. Today it is a large cultural space covering an area of 1,000 square meters. The Literary Café was designed by architects Vincenzo Pultrone and Alfredo Caporale and is a multifunctional area with a library, bookstore and café in the open space of the venue. It often organizes musical events and book presentations.

2. The Yeti – Pigneto
In the Pigneto neighborhood – one of the capital’s most important social laboratories – we find the bookstore Café Lo Yeti. In this particular bookstore, built by breaking down any kind of architectural barrier, the many souls of the area can meet and confront each other by chance. Inside the bookstore there is also an area for the little ones with toys donated by other children.
It is a place where one can sip a glass of wine or a cup of tea while reading a good novel. In the place you can also eat thanks to the cutting boards, BIO sandwiches and salads.

3. Fahrenheit 451 Bookstore – Centro.
Here you will find lots of “weird” books if you are looking for something different. In this independent bookstore, in the heart of Rome, you can also discover fantastic old and used books. In short, a place to breathe an atmosphere out of time. If you don’t really know what to choose, the lady at the bookstore can recommend books to read based on everyone’s literary tastes.

4. Libraccio bookstore Rome – Centro
Libraccio bookstore is a very large bookstore where you can find new and used books (there is a floor dedicated just to used books). Here you can choose any literary genre: novels, classics of Greek philosophy, manuals, anthropology and much more. For children then there is a large dedicated section. If you are a music lover, you will also find a music and film section with a wide range of used DVDs, CDs and vinyl. The bookstore stays open on weekends and is located near Termini station.

5. Cicerone Bookstore – Centro
Have you ever seen an underground bookstore? Libreria Cicerone is one; its premises are located in the 500 sq. m. underpasses of Galleria Colonna! This particular bookstore was born in the Prati district in 1956, on Via Cicerone (from which it takes its name). Today it is located within walking distance of Palazzo Montecitorio and the Trevi Fountain, right in the center.
Along with a good selection of modern books, many classics of Italian literature can be found. The website features over 14,000 items including fine books and prints! The staff is very attentive to customers’ needs and can advise well, depending on taste.

6. Feltrinelli Bookstore
There are several Feltrinelli bookstores in Rome, but the most striking one is located in Largo di Torre Argentina. The bookstore is located right in the historic center, a short distance from the city’s various sights. It is very well stocked, in fact it is spread over 3 levels and also has a bar inside (lately it has been found closed). Ideal for lovers of various genres, from fantasy to history, economics, detective stories, romance novels and more.
