The bookstores we like best in Rome

1. Literary Cafe – Ostiense
It was in our city that he opened Italy’s first literary café. Today it is a large cultural space spanning 1,000 square meters. The Literary Café was designed by architects Vincenzo Pultrone and Alfredo Caporale and is a multipurpose area with a library, bookstore and café in the open space of the venue. He often organizes musical events and book presentations.

In the Pigneto neighborhood-one of the capital’s most important social laboratories-we find the bookstore Café Lo Yeti. Inside the library there is also an area for younger children with toys donated by other children.

3. Fahrenheit 451 Bookstore – Downtown
You will find lots of “weird” books here if you are looking for something different. At this independent bookstore in the heart of Rome, you can also discover fantastic old and used books. In short, a place to breathe an atmosphere out of time. If you don’t really know what to choose, the lady at the bookstore can recommend books to read based on each person’s literary tastes.

4. Libraccio Bookshop Rome – Center
The Libraccio bookstore is a very large bookstore where you can find new and used books (there is a floor dedicated just to used books). Here you can choose any literary genre: novels, classics of Greek philosophy, manuals, anthropology, and more. For children then there is a large dedicated section. If you are a music lover, you will also find a music and film section with a wide range of used DVDs, CDs, and vinyl. The bookstore remains open on weekends and is located in the vicinity of Termini Station.

5. Cicero Bookstore – Downtown
Have you ever seen an underground library? The Cicero bookstore is, its premises are located in the 500 square meters of the underpasses of the Galleria Colonna! This particular bookstore was established in the Prati neighborhood in 1956, on Via Cicerone (after which it was named). Today it is within walking distance of Palazzo Montecitorio and the Trevi Fountain, right in the center.
Along with a good selection of modern books, many classics of Italian literature can be found. The website features over 14,000 items including fine books and prints! The staff is very attentive to customer needs and can advise well, depending on taste.

6. Feltrinelli Bookstore
There are several Feltrinelli bookstores in Rome, but the most striking one is located on Largo di Torre Argentina. The bookstore is located in the heart of the old town, within easy reach of the city’s various sights. It is well stocked; in fact, it is spread over 3 levels and also has a bar inside (recently found to be closed). Ideal for lovers of different genres, from fantasy to history, economics, mystery, romance novels and more.
