Leaves turn rust red, yellow and, of course, orange, … Foliage is a sight to behold in the capital! What better way to get into the autumn mood than by collecting different kinds of pumpkins near Rome?
From carving pumpkins for Halloween to making a beautiful pumpkin pie or velouté for your family, pumpkin season is for everyone. At this harvest time, you can head to your nearest pumpkin patch and pick out the best ones.
1. Pumpkin Farm
North of Rome, in Sacrofano, the American-style pumpkin farm has reopened. The enchanted pumpkin patch, Pumpkin Patch, will be open until Nov. 3 and features many activities for the whole family. First and foremost, you can have fun looking for the ideal pumpkin to decorate or carve to beautify your home or garden. In fact, thanks to the workshops present, you can create your own Jack O’Lantern, or pumpkin for Halloween.

2. Bluebeard’s Pumpkins.
“Le Zucche di Barbabianca” is an autumn event held from September 28 to October 31 at the Torre in Pietra Carandini farm near Rome. This Pumpkin Patch offers an immersive experience with thousands of pumpkins to collect and a variety of activities for all ages. Visitors can participate in creative workshops to decorate pumpkins, enjoy traditional games such as sack races and mini-bowling, explore a maze, and interact with farm animals.
In addition, there is a Pumpkin Market where edible and ornamental pumpkins can be purchased. New activities include cooking shows, pottery and flower arranging classes, and photo sessions. On weekends, visitors can have lunch at the food court with local specialties such as sausage sandwiches and wine from the Torre in Pietra Castle Winery.

3. Magic Forest Rome
There is another pumpkin patch to discover in Vejo Park that offers various activities for children. It is open from September 21 to October 31 on weekends, and from November 1 to 3 for Halloween. Among the activities offered:
- collecting, decorating and eating natural and edible pumpkins
- professional photo book available on Sundays from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
- puppet theater, child makeup, baby dance and balloons on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
- painting workshop to decorate pumpkins
- educational farm with animals to pet and feed
- outdoor cinema for children on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.
- facilities for young children, such as play area with sandbox and changing table
- picnic areas for picnic lunches
