Excursion to Calcata, the “village of witches” near Rome

Finally, less than an hour from the capital, the medieval village of Calcata is famous for its stone houses suspended over the cliff and its atmosphere that is nothing short of magical. In the 1960s it was populated by artists, esotericists and free spirits, who made the village a veritable laboratory of creativity … and mysteries. During Halloween, Calcata often hosts small events, street performances and alley parties. Even without any major official celebrations, walking through its alleys at nightfall is a chilling experience.
