Having said goodbye to 2024, a new year begins, made up of good resolutions and many plans to live Rome well. True, the festive atmosphere is now behind us but still we can enjoy all the events scheduled in Rome.
Here are our recommendations for January. What do you say?
We Call It Ballet
The “We Call It Ballet” event in Rome, scheduled for Jan. 19, offers a unique and innovative experience of the classic ballet Sleeping Beauty. This show is distinguished by its fusion of traditional art and modern technology, presenting five extraordinary dancers who light up the stage with fluorescent costumes. These elements create an evocative play of light that brings to life the story of the cursed princess, awakened by true love’s kiss.
Candlelight
Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live musical experience by candlelight to some of the capital’s evocative venues, such as Palazzo Ripetta or Teatro Ghione. In January you can attend tribute concerts to Ennio Morricone, ABBA and Queen. Find out about all the Candlelight scheduled in Rome.
We Call it Cabaret
The Jan. 14 event, “We Call it Cabaret: Dracula Dance Show by Moonlight,“ offers a unique and modern take on Bram Stoker’s classic Gothic tale, Dracula. This cabaret theater show combines dance, theater and Gothic literature in an immersive and evocative experience. The performance lasts one hour and is hosted at Teatro Ghione in Rome.
Paint and Sip
How about an artistic aperitivo in the city? In January, weather conditions don’t always allow us to do outdoor activities. If you are looking for a nice experience, sheltered from the cold and rain, then you could participate in “Paint and Sip.”
This is an art-based appetizer to bring out the Picasso in you. You will be given canvas, acrylic paints and brushes to paint under the supervision of a teacher. The activity will also include a tasting of fine Italian wines, cheeses, locally sourced prosciutto, finger food, water and other alcoholic aperitivo drinks.
The aperitif in the chandelier room
It is called Lumière and the name was not chosen at random. In the Prati area of Rome we find this particular bistro with many chandeliers and paintings. The place is open from morning to evening and allows for breakfast, lunch, aperitif, dinner and after dinner. Drinks, such as Spritz or Negroni, cost 8 euros. The wine list is always carefully renewed by the bistro’s sommeliers.
Drinking hot chocolate
There has been an old chocolate factory in the San Lorenzo neighborhood since 1923 that combines tradition and innovation. Founded by Aldo De Mauro, the factory has spanned a century of history, transforming into a concept store that includes workshop, store, bistro and restaurant. And here you can have a tasty chocolate, ideal during cold winter afternoons.
Guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and Dome in Rome
The guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and Dome in Rome offers a unique experience to explore one of the most iconic places in Vatican City, with an expert guide who enriches the visit with historical and artistic details. You will climb to the top of St. Peter’s dome, 136 meters above the ground, for a breathtaking view of the capital. The tour lasts about 3 hours and runs Monday through Saturday.
This tour is ideal for those who want to discover the magnificence of St. Peter’s Basilica and have an unforgettable cultural and scenic experience.

Palazzo Colonna, located in the heart of Rome, is one of the oldest and most sumptuous private palaces in the city, built starting in the 14th century by the Colonna family, which has resided there for more than 800 years. Its construction spanned five centuries, creating an extraordinary overlap of architectural styles, with Baroque as the predominant element.
