The capital’s gastronomic scene is enriched by a brand-new addition: SANDO IE KOJI, the first venue entirely dedicated to Katsusando, the iconic Japanese sandwich. Located in the Prati district, at Via Andrea Doria 32, the restaurant bears the signature of chef-entrepreneur Koji Nakai, already known for having innovated Japanese cuisine in Rome with his previous projects.
Alongside his entrepreneurial endeavors, the chef maintains a constant commitment to promoting authentic culinary culture in collaboration withthe Japanese Cultural Institute.
What Sando Ie Koji offers
The project was conceived with the goal of becoming a dynamic, urban hub, ideal for quick dining or takeout. Despite the “pop” nature of the concept, the heart of Sando beats for craftsmanship.
A soft, buttery shokupan developed exclusively with Panificio Marè, and thanks to a partnership with the Galli Group, the cutlets are produced in-house in a dedicated kitchen.
The culinary offering revolves around four main pillars, complemented by absolute excellence. The restaurant features classic versions with select cuts of pork and chicken, a variation with soy-marinated beef strips, and a seasonal dish based on vegetables from the nearby Mercato Trionfale.

The restaurant’s signature dish is prepared with premium Japanese Wagyu beef. The menu also includes complete bento boxes, a variety of potato chips seasoned with traditional ingredients ( such as yuzu, miso, and nori seaweed), and original Japanese beverages.
There’s also no shortage of cotton cheesecakes in chocolate, yuzu, and matcha flavors. It’s a traditional Japanese dessert distinguished by its incredible lightness and a spongy texture, similar to that of a cloud. Although it shares the use of cream cheese with the classic American version and tiramisu , its structure is profoundly different: in fact, it has no kind of crunchy base, such as cookies or shortcrust pastry.
Useful info: It is open every day (except Tuesdays) from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
