Rubber boots, a red wheelbarrow, and a single mission: to find the perfect pumpkin before anyone else. On Saturday, October 10, the Fattoria della Zucca reopens—the American-style pumpkin patch that has welcomed over 100,000 visitors in previous years.
It will be open every Saturday and Sunday through November 1, including the Halloween weekend.
The biggest change, however, is the location: this year, the Farm is no longer in Veio Park, but in Nepi, at km 37.800 on the Cassia Road, on an estate with a small wood that has been transformed into an enchanted area.
Because this year we’re heading to Nepi
Those coming from northern Rome, just a stone’s throw from the GRA, will have to continue straight on the Cassia for a little longer this time.
The organizers explained the reason for the move. Due to African swine fever, the area of Veio Park where the farm was located is subject to restrictions, and those restrictions will remain in effect for the next few years.
The good news is that the new estate, located at Via Grotte Finocchiara 36, is larger, with more green space and more covered areas.
What to Do at the Pumpkin Farm
The heart of this fall experience remains the field. You choose your pumpkin, paint it, or learn how to carve it in paid workshops.
For kids, there’s Zuccapasticcia’s haunted treasure hunt , a mini-tractor ride , ponies, horses, puppets, and jugglers. In the estate’s woods, you’ll encounter magical and mysterious characters designed for the little ones. If you’re wondering where to take the kids this weekend, they’ll spend a couple of hours here without even noticing the time.

For adults, there’s Pumpkin Spice Latte and pumpkin-based street food. Also making their debut are The Gelatist’s Pumpkin Spice gelato and Agrilab’s pumpkin beer.

While you’re there: visit Nepi, the city of water
Don’t let the trip go to waste. The name Nepi is said to derive from the Etruscan word *nepa*, meaning “water,” and the town certainly lives up to it. Right in the heart of the historic center, at the foot of the ramparts of the Rocca dei Borgia, the Cavaterra Waterfall plunges into the gorge below.
The fortress also housed Lucrezia Borgia for a time. And yes, it’s the same Nepi that many Romans know for its naturally sparkling water.
In short, this year you’ll have to go well beyond the Tomb of Nero to pick out your pumpkin. But with a waterfall and the Borgia Fortress included in the package, the trip out of town is worth every kilometer.
