“Che te rode?” how many times have we heard this expression in Rome. Not everyone knows, however, that it has historical origins related to the Trastevere district, more specifically Vicolo del Moro, as Il Messaggero explains. This idiom, indicating annoyance or irritation, derives from the extended phrase “Che te rode, ‘a piazzetta o er vicolo der Moro?” referring to a once little-known street. In the past, the street was dark and secondary, associated with a sense of discomfort or “itchiness,” hence the figurative meaning of the expression.
If it’s a NO day or week, here’s where you can go in Rome to improve your mood.

Meditation centers
When we feel “irritated,” the hardest thing to do is to slow down. Meditation is an increasingly popular practice because of its many scientifically proven benefits. It helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression, improves memory, concentration and emotional regulation. There are various styles of meditation, such as mindfulness, Zen and Qigong, each with specific benefits.
A number of centers are available in Rome to practice meditation. Here are some examples: Ashoka – Mindfulness Center (Via Braccio da Montone); Centro Zhineng Qigong Roma (Via Sannio) meditation and physical movement; Zen in the City (Viale XXI Aprile): online Zen meditation classes.
These centers offer different approaches to meet personal needs, with sessions suitable for both beginners and experts.
Gyms in Rome
Sports help to vent because they offer an effective way to channel negative emotions such as anger, stress and frustration, bringing both physical and mental benefits. During physical activity, in fact, the body releases endorphins, serotonin and other neurotransmitters that improve mood and reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. In addition, sports promote relaxation and help improve self-control.
Aerobic sports such as running, swimming and cycling turn out to be the most effective. Here you can find a list of gyms in Rome with swimming, spinning and weight room classes for a jog. Otherwise, if the weather permits, a walk in nature can also help.
