Rome is a wonderful city, and among the beautiful things the capital offers is its proximity to the sea. In a short time you can reach nice beaches for lunch with the sound of waves in the background. There is a wide range of offerings, but there are certainly venues not to be missed. Here are 5 seaside restaurants to try near Rome:
1. Alceste al Buon Gusto – Anzio
Anzio is a seaside resort one hour from Rome. The water is clear and the downtown area very lively. There are stores, beach bars, and the famous Nero Caves to explore. In addition to the remains of the Roman emperor’s villa, Anzio is also known for its seafood restaurants on the beach. Our favorite is Alceste. You can choose to eat outside, sea view, or inside (if it is too hot in summer). Here you’ll find classic seafood entrees, such as linguine with scampi, and fancier appetizers, such as cod and ginger tartare. Average price per person: 50 euros.
Where: Piazzale Sant’Antonio, 6, 00042 Anzio.
2. La capannina – Terracina
In this town in the province of Latina, there are many restaurants that overlook the sea. Terracina in summer is a favorite destination for families, the wide beaches allow for walking, playing and having fun with friends. La Capannina is a fairly large seafood restaurant with a veranda and garden on the beach. We recommend trying the scampi cream gnocchi and the sea bass fillet in potato and pistachio crisp. The venue is well-known, so best to make reservations in advance. A visit to the Temple of Jupiter, above the restaurant, can also be arranged with the occasion. Average price per person: 40 euros.
Where: via Appia, 04019 Terracina.
3. Aquamarine – Santa Marinella
Where the sea water is always bluer, in Santa Marinella we find Acquamarina. A seafood restaurant that enjoys a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. Among the dishes to try, we recommend the tonnarelli polpo and pecorino cheese and the classic spaghetti with clams. Average price per person: 40 euros.
Where: Trieste Square, 8, 00058 Santa Marinella.
4. From Sora Franca – Ladispoli
Those who do not like fish can eat the true Roman cuisine to the sea. At Sora Franca’s you can enjoy traditional dishes with some tasty offerings, such as burrata, guanciale and pistachio ravioli or pistachio gricia. Classics include Roman style tripe, artichokes alla Giudia, Roman antipasto, etc. Desserts are artisanal: tiramisu, crumble and amaretto parfait. Average price per person: 25 euros.
Where: via Milano, 1, 00055 Ladispoli.
5. The Bay of Fregene – Fregene
Fregene is famous for aperitifs with music on the beach, but there are some really good restaurants in the area! One is undoubtedly the Bay of Fregene. The fish fry is really delicious, and there are typical seafood items on the menu: oysters, mussels, fish, and pasta. The beach terrace is ready to welcome you.
Where: Via Silvi Marina, 00054 Fregene.
6. Casa Carmen – Fregene
We still stay in Fregene with Casa Carmen. Here we are in a seafood osteria that mixes Latin and Mediterranean traditions. A culinary journey that takes you far away. There is a different atmosphere here. It doesn’t even feel like we are in Italy, instead we are less than an hour from the center of Rome. Tapas, paella very good. Plus you will find the typical seafood offerings of a self-respecting good seafood restaurant: grills, risottos, mixed fried foods, and other delicacies.
Where: Lungomare di Ponente, 123 – Fregene
7. Tinga Beach & Risto – Torvanaica
If you are looking for a tasteful sea-view experience, the choice can only be Tinga Beach & Risto. Here you can enjoy delicate seafood dishes surrounded by a magical marine atmosphere. An oasis of pleasure and well-being to escape some city chaos and feel on vacation for a few hours. Dishes made with full respect for tradition, with a touch of creativity from the chef. For example, a Carnaroli rice with lemon, arugula pesto and Mazara red shrimp or a slice of swordfish while the sound of the sea lulls you. How do you see it?
Where: Via Nizza, snc, 00071 Torvaianica
8. Pascucci at the marina – Fiumicino
With this location we raise the bar by talking about a starred restaurant. So you have a wider choice.
