Laghetto di San Benedetto (Subiaco)
Considered one of the most fascinating natural paradises in Lazio, this emerald-water pond, fed by the Aniene River and surrounded by forests, offers a unique bathing experience about 70 km from Rome. The entrance fee is 3 euros.

- On foot from the center of Subiaco, you can walk about 2.5 km following a path from the village
- By walking from the Monastery of St. Scholastica along the marked path ST2 (about 2 km), which descends to the Aniene River and skirts the small lake.
- By the remains of Nero’s Villa, from which a short path leads to the pond.
- By car, you can park in a picnic area near the beginning of the trail (about 400 meters walk from the pond)
Trevi Waterfalls
The Cascate di Trevi waterfalls, located in Comunacque near Trevi nel Lazio (Frosinone province), are one of the natural wonders of the Monti Simbruini Regional Natural Park. These waterfalls are located just before the confluence of the Simbrivio River with the Aniene River and are immersed in a lush green environment, with clear waters flowing into a small lake below, creating an evocative setting ideal for hiking and relaxing moments.
How to reach the Trevi Falls
The waterfalls can be reached via Tourist Trail 1, which starts near the bridge on provincial road 29 to Trevi nel Lazio. The trail is about 700 meters long, easy and suitable for everyone, and winds through a natural landscape.
Those traveling by car can take the A24 highway from Rome, exit at Subiaco and continue along provincial road 193 following the signs for Trevi nel Lazio and Comunacque.
Monte Gelato Waterfalls
The Monte Gelato Waterfalls are one of the most striking naturalistic destinations in the Treja Valley, in the municipality of Mazzano Romano, about 35 km from Rome. This nature complex is characterized by a series of small waterfalls formed by the Treja River flowing between volcanic rocks and lush forests, creating an enchanting landscape. It is a cool place, ideal for the summer season.
The Cascate di Monte Gelato waterfalls have also been the location for numerous films and commercials, including the famous “They Called Him Trinity…” (1970).
How to get to Monte Gelato Falls
- By car: from Rome take the Cassia bis Veientana to km 35, then the exit for Mazzano Romano; from here follow the signs for the Treja Valley Park and Monte Gelato. Parking: available for a fee near the access area.
- Walking: an easy path starts from the Mola di Monte Gelato and descends toward the waterfalls, crossing oak forests and tuffaceous areas. The trail is suitable for everyone.
Pellico Falls (Farnese/Canino) and Salabrone Falls.
These locations, known for their free natural pools, are ideal for those who love wild spas and waterfalls, giving rejuvenating baths in untraveled natural settings.
How to reach the Pellico Waterfall
The waterfall is located about 1.5 km from the center of Canino and can be reached either by car or on foot. By car, from Canino take Via d’Ischia, go straight ahead ignoring the first two detours on the right, until you find a road on the right that leads to the bridge over the Timone stream. From here, follow a short path of about 50 meters to reach the waterfall. It is advisable to park nearby and walk this last stretch. Alternatively, you can reach the waterfall by trekking from the fountain of the slaughterhouse in Canino, following the course of the Timone stream.
How to reach the Salabrone Waterfall
It is located near Farnese, also in Tuscia, and can be reached by hiking trails through the surrounding countryside and woods. From Farnese you can follow a marked trail that leads to the waterfall, which is immersed in an unspoiled natural environment.
