TasteAtlas reveals the cities with the best food in the world
“Among the 17,073 cities in our database, based on 477,287 valid ratings for 15,478 foods, these 100 cities with the highest average ratings for the most commonly served regional and national dishes stand out,” reads the report by TasteAtlas (an online experiential travel guide for traditional food).
Italy makes the top ten with as many as six of the country’s cities in the top ten with the highest scores, in terms of food offerings. The gold medal goes to Naples with its sfogliatelle, zeppole, gnocchi alla sorrentina and pizza margherita. Then, in second place is Milan, beloved for its panettone, risotto alla milanese, cotoletta, ossobuco and cassoeula.
This is followed by Bologna, Florence, Mumbai (India), Rome, Paris (France), Vienna (Austria), Turin, and tenth place Osaka (Japan).
As for the capital, the recommended foods are carbonara(score 4.5), cacio e pepe (4.5), tiramisu (4.5), pasta alla gricia (4.5), and coda alla vaccinara (3.5).
