If you are a lover of Britain, you can’t miss visiting this tea room in Pigneto, once you cross the threshold of the entrance you will feel like you have left the capital. Everything is reminiscent of the United Kingdom, the cupboards full of teapots, teacups, the Paddington bear, the doilies that bring to mind grandma’s living room, sofas, armchairs and much more. The restaurant is on two floors, not large but this makes it more intimate.
The atmosphere is cozy and the owners (one of whom is of Scottish descent) work with passion. Every year they travel to the United Kingdom to buy unique products to display later in the British Corner. The teapots, in fact, are very unique and can also be purchased by customers.
What does The British Corner offer?
The tea ritual can be had, choosing different offerings: tea and scones (the sweet sandwiches originating in the British Isles) for 10 euros; tea or infusions with scones and sandwiches for 13 euros; tea, scones, sandwiches and the special of the day for 18 euros. The cakes (not just British) are also very good. The scones are very good and similar to those eaten in the UK. We, spending less than 15 euros per person ate and drank enough.
The cakes are delicious and do not turn out heavy: carrot cake, apple pie, Victoria sponge cake, sacher and others.
In the tea list, you find green, black and flavored black tea: passion fruit and orange, peach with flowers, strawberry, apple and lemon, mango and papaya, violet with flowers.
Three savory offerings, on the other hand, you find toast with cold cuts or vegetarian, hot-dogs with different sauces, the scrambled eggs on toast, croutons, piadinas, and the vegetable and cheese or mixed cold cuts boards. Not only tea, you can also order good wine for an aperitif.
