Milan may be the fashion capital, but Rome is the undisputed queen of vintage markets. Scattered around every corner of the city, at the stalls of these markets you can find everything and at really bargain prices. Designer handbags, oddly colored glasses and that coat you’ve been looking for so long but had never managed to unearth. In their clutter, the markets are the perfect place for shoppers, avid collectors or the curious, and these are the best vintage markets in Rome.
Porta Portese
The most famous of all, an institution in the market scene, impossible to leave off the list of the best. Porta Portese has now become a must for shopaholics, and lately appreciated a lot by tourists as well, a real landmark for those who want to buy vintage or new items at competitive prices. Strolling through the stands, you will find the classic stalls with one- or two-euro items, where you can unearth truly unique accessories such as original belts, glasses with the most disparate frames and stacks upon stacks of clothes.
For those who are not lovers of chaos, this experience might be a bit hectic, but it is still worth immersing yourself in this atmosphere and who knows, you might unearth some gems. One valuable piece of advice we feel like giving to everyone: if you are planning to go, don’t forget to set your alarm early, the highlights disappear quickly here.
