Antonello Venditti is one of the pillars of Italian singer-songwriter music. Born in Rome on March 8, 1949, he has been able to tell like few others about love, politics and the everyday life of the capital through his songs.
His musical adventure began in the 1970s at Rome’s legendary Folkstudio, a venue that served as a hotbed for young talent at the time. There he befriended Francesco De Gregori, with whom he made his debut in 1972 on the shared album “Theorius Campus.” Although the record was not an immediate success, it already contained one of his most iconic songs,“Roma Capoccia.”
In the late 1970s and 1980s, Venditti became a mass phenomenon. “Under the Sign of the Fishes,” “Night Before Exams,””In This World of Thieves,” and “Welcome to Paradise” dominated the charts.
And now you can listen live again to his hits,“Notte prima degli esami,”“Ci vorrebbe un amico,”“Che Fantastica Storia è la Vita,” etc.
Venditti’s upcoming Roman concerts
After the success recorded at the Terme di Caracalla, the celebratory tour for the 40th anniversary of “Notte prima degli esami” moves to the Palazzo dello Sport for two unmissable dates in the run-up to Christmas. If the Dec. 21 date has already been sold out, fans still have one last chance for the Dec. 23 concert, with tickets available from 49 euros.
The event revolves around the iconic tracks from “Cuore,” the iconic album from 1984 that is back in the spotlight this year with a remastered reissue that also includes the new track “Di’ Una Parola.” It will be an opportunity to relive a piece of Italian music history live, guided by Antonello Venditti’s unmistakable voice (his glasses and piano will not be missing).
With nearly 40 million records sold, Venditti remains an artist capable of uniting different generations under the sign of his “Roman and universal” music.
