Anyone who stays in Rome in August is a hero-or maybe just a person who knows where the best fun is. While everyone is posting crowded beaches and sunburned loungers, you could be stargazing with an aperitivo in hand, or at a Kendrick Lamar concert under the sky at the Stadio Olimpico. Yes, even in August Rome can be amazing. So here’s a guide to what to do in Rome in August 2025, including concerts, events, cultural experiences and activities that are definitely out of the usual clichés.
Candlelight concerts in Rome
Unique musical performances will take place in Rome in August 2025. The best music in an intimate atmosphere created by soft candlelight. In these candlelight concerts you will have a different musical experience… The best works of Einaudi, the songs of Morricone, ABBA and many others. Don’t miss these tribute concerts.

Astronomical aperitifs at Technotown
Every weekend in August, Technotown at Villa Torlonia hosts the city’s most stellar evenings. The ticket costs only 1 euro, with first drink at 5 euro. On August 10 there is a special evening for the Night of San Lorenzo.

Visit the Fairy Tale Land

Twenty minutes from Viterbo is Sant’Angelo, the village of fairy tales. You can discover fantastic works of urban art inspired by the most beautiful fairy tales ever. Where: House of Architecture.
Relax in an outdoor cinema
In Rome, August also means cinema under the stars. Try the Arena in Piazza Vittorio or the arena at the Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese: curated programming, comfortable seating, and a perfect atmosphere for those who love the big screen without blasting air conditioning.
Having a night picnic at the Aventine.
Bring a blanket, a couple of friends and something to drink: the Aventine, at sunset or under the stars, is one of the most peaceful and scenic terraces in Rome. Also ideal for Ferragosto.
Discover the Garden of the Waterfalls at EUR.
Few people know it, but it is a little Zen corner in the heart of EUR. Open even in summer, it is a perfect place to relax with a stroll among artificial waterfalls, small bridges and lush vegetation.
Visit Lazio’s most beautiful seaside resorts

There are many places to see in our region, and in summer we should consider ourselves really lucky: in a short time we can reach the sea. So even if you haven’t planned a vacation, don’t be discouraged. In this article we tell you about the most beautiful seaside resorts in Lazio. Here’s where you could go in August.
Experience the Castle of Santa Severa 2025

If you want to get out of Rome a bit without going too far, the Santa Severa Castle is waiting for you with free events until August 31. Concerts (such as those of Tiromancino and Neri per Caso, already sold out), food area and a seaside setting that is pure atmosphere. Open from 17:00 to 00:00. Program at www.castellodisantasevera.it.
Practice Wakeboarding
Those who enjoy outdoor activities can practice wakeboarding. In San Cesareo there is a large park near Mondo Lake where you can learn this water sport. What are you waiting for?
A day at Villa Gregoriana
Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli, located just 30 minutes from Rome, is an enchanting natural paradise with forests, ancient ruins and mysterious caves. Admire the Great Waterfall and be inspired by this place commissioned by Pope Gregory XVI in the 1800s.
Ferragosto 2025 in a water park
If you are not going out of town on Ferragosto, there are many events to attend in Rome. Generally, amusement parks hold parties to spend this holiday together. For example, MagicLand is organizing for August 15 the “Fluo & Foam Party,” an unmissable event that will transform the park into an explosion of UV lights, fluorescent colors and wild fun. With DJ Ulysses Marciano and featured dancers, get ready to experience an unforgettable evening, culminating with an epic foam party. The party starts at 9:30 p.m. and admission is included in the ticket.
An Alternative August 15
Avoid the classic terrace barbecue on August 15: You can opt for a scenic brunch (many rooftops remain open), a music festival (such as events at the Jazz House) or a quiet evening at the Orange Garden.
Finally, you can always decide to spend a day at the beach or an evening admiring the beauty of the Eternal City.
