The coastal town of Gaeta (LT), known for its crystal clear waters, is once again transformed into Lazio’s most spectacular “marine Christmas village.” “Fables of Light” is back for its 10th edition and will continue to light up the town until Jan. 11, 2026.
This event is not just a display of illuminations, but a real enchanted journey that blends art, history and seascape, enhancing the winter charm of the coast. The goal, as stated by the mayor, is to enchant visitors by enhancing Gaeta’s historical and artistic treasures, making it a must-see destination, especially during the Christmas season.
The new edition of Fables of Light.
This year’s edition features as many as 27 themed light installations, many of which evoke the underwater world and fairy tales. The city’s streets and squares are populated with light sculptures such as the Scintillating Whale in Villa delle Sirene, the Shining Volcano in V. Capodanno Square, or the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt in Vetrai Square. There is no shortage of imaginative attractions such as the Panda Garden and the area entirely dedicated to Dinosaurs and prehistoric realms along Viale Battaglione degli Alpini.

Essential information and shows
For those planning a visit, it is essential to know the hours: the 27 light installations light up daily between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. (at sunset) and remain visible until late at night.
The beating heart of the entertainment is the St. Francis Fountain Spectacular (in Liberty Square), a magnificent show of waterworks, music and lights that takes place exclusively on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, starting at 6:30 pm. Visitors are advised to arrive early, as the central street (Corso Cavour/Piazza della Libertà) is closed to traffic from 6 p.m. on show days.
Additional Attractions.
The route is enhanced by the Light Trains, which operate on weekends and holidays, allowing visitors to admire the illuminations comfortably. Visitors will also find a skating rink, a performance area, a Ferris wheel and an ice crib along the route. The event also includes a full calendar of cultural events.
