Starting Dec. 6, 2025, and running through Jan. 6, 2026, Castiglione del Lago will be transformed into the stage for an internationally renowned Christmas event, Lights on Trasimeno. The undisputed star is the Christmas Tree built on water, a complex and unparalleled work of electrical engineering.
The tree on the water and other Christmas attractions
This record-breaking structure, a full 1080 meters long and 50 meters wide, is supported by 166 poles and lit by more than 2,650 lamps powered entirely by renewable sources, the result of the work of about 150 people involved. Its uniqueness comes not only from its impressive size, but from the way the reflections of the lights on the water create an ever-changing spectacle that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
The tree is at the heart of the “Tree Route,” an enchanted paid itinerary that takes place along the walls of the historic center and the Medieval Fortress. Only from this walk, which offers a dedicated Belvedere area, is it possible to admire the work in its full proportions and grandeur. The route, open daily from 5 to 11 p.m., also includes other striking attractions.

Among them, the Santa Claus Xmas Garden welcomes visitors to meet Santa Claus and participate in creative workshops with elves, while the Nativity Trail offers a path between lights and art dedicated to the Canticle of the Creatures. For entertainment, the Wonder Show with music and colors is provided every evening, and for those who love to skate, the Ice Park offers a rink bathed in Christmas lights.
Admission to the “Tree Trail” costs €10 for adults (€5 for children aged 13 to 17), but there is free admission for children up to 12 years old and people with disabilities. The event takes place along Via Belvedere, starting from Porta Fiorentina. For visitors by car, numerous free parking spaces are available a short distance away, with a free shuttle service operating on holidays and pre-holidays to facilitate access to the historic center.
