Rome is the two-faced of Amor. And it is no coincidence that the Eternal City is considered one of the most romantic cities in the world. It is also chosen by those who do not live it every day to make love proposals (perhaps in front of the Trevi Fountain) or swear eternal love in one of the many fabulous locations in this great city. If you want to treat your sweetheart to a magical evening or simply make an impression, try one of these romantic restaurants in Rome:
Il Fungo – EUR
This historic restaurant in Rome is truly one of the most beautiful. The crazy view of the city, the exquisite dishes and the elegance of the location characterize it. It is located on the 14th floor and allows for high-altitude dining in an intimate and cozy setting. The seafood appetizers, entrees, and main courses are good, and the menu changes with the season. It is not cheap but may be the right choice for celebrating a special event. Average price per person: about 90 euros.
Where: Piazza Pakistan 1a, Rome.
Terrazza Borromini – Centro
A timeless place where the eternity of Rome is celebrated. This beautiful terrace overlooks the stunning Piazza Navona and Bernini‘s beautiful Fontana dei Fiumi. If you want to breathe in the atmosphere of yesteryear, what could be better than dining in the Palazzo Pamphilj? The restaurant, in fact, is located on the fourth floor of the building designed by Borromini in the 17th century. The menu is inspired by Roman tradition; you can eat both meat and fish. Again, given the location, the average price per person is around 100 euros (depending on what you order).
Where: Via di Santa Maria Dell’Anima, 30, Rome.
Il Caminetto – Parioli
This historic, family-run restaurant since 1959 is located in the Parioli district of North Rome. If you are looking for a cozy and traditional place, Il Caminetto is the place to go. Portions are plentiful and there is a wide selection of traditional Roman and other seafood dishes on the menu. Artichoke lovers will also find artichokes alla Giudia. Average price per person: 60/70 euros.
Where: Viale Parioli, 89, 00197 Rome.
Dolce – Trieste District
A really nice and particular restaurant in the beautiful Trieste district. The dishes are out of the ordinary, even oriental-inspired. The nice thing is that if you like to eat, the portions are definitely large, not to mention the desserts. In fact, we recommend you try their DIY tiramisu that you compose right at the table. They bring you everything you need: the coffee maker, the cream and the ladyfingers. Average price per person: 50 euros.
Where: Via Tripolitania 4, Rome
Mimi and Coco Trast – Trastevere
What could be more romantic than a bistro with “I love you” written on the wall? We are in that of Trastevere, a lively area full of youth. Mimi and Coco Trast is an eatery in a well-appointed 18th-century building with an intimate and cozy atmosphere, which is why we also recommend it for a first date. The cocktails for aperitifs with pinsa are well prepared. At dinner you can choose classic dishes, from Carbonara to straccetti or pizzas. For dessert it offers the mouthwatering Lavazza tiramisu by the glass, made espresso on the spot and served hot. Average price per person: 30 euros.
Where: Via della Scala, 1 Rome.
Dining in the dark – Centro
Centro and Obicà are intimate and cozy restaurants, just what you need for a romantic dinner. These establishments periodically hold a dinner in the dark: all diners are blindfolded and have to guess the dishes. There is no shortage of wine for toasting!
Cul de Sac – Rione Parione
This quaint and historic wine bar is just the right place to experience the magic of Rome by night. Just a short distance from the beautiful Piazza Navona you can enjoy refined wines accompanied by traditional Italian and Roman dishes and sought-after selections of cold cuts and cheeses typical of various areas of the Peninsula. Inside you can eat on wooden benches surrounded by many bottles of wine. It is a very intimate and cozy environment. Average price per person: 30 euros.
Where: Piazza di Pasquino, 73, 00186 Rome.
Ninù Roma – Rione Campo Marzio
A house converted into a cozy little restaurant with rooms, cocktail bar, greenhouse and cafeteria. Ninù also has a private room surrounded by books, where it can accommodate a maximum of 12 people. Ideal if you are looking for a relaxing and particular environment. The menu serves mostly fish, raw and cooked.
Where: Via della Frezza, 43. Average price per person: 70 euros.
Mater Terrae – Rione Parione
In the Bio Hotel Raphaël – Relais & Châteaux we find the vegetarian restaurant Mater Terrae with a crazy view of Rome. In fact, we recommend watching the sunset right from the terrace.
Where: Largo Febo, 2, 00186, Rome. Average price per person: 70 euros.
Sushi & noodles – Aventino
If you love eating quality sushi, we recommend this Japanese and Chinese fusion restaurant for a romantic date. The dim lights make the atmosphere even more passionate.
Where: 117 Aventine Avenue. Average price per person: 40/50 euros (not all you can eat).
