From sixth to fourth place in the international 50 Top Pizza World 2026 ranking: Seu Pizza, the pizzeria on Via Angelo Bargoni in Rome, solidifies its position among the absolute benchmarks of contemporary pizza on a global scale. This achievement comes hot on the heels of the Pizza of the Year title at the 50 Top Pizza Italia 2026, awarded to the signature dish “Assoluto di Melanzane,” and second place in the national rankings.
“Being the fourth-best pizzeria in the world—and improving on last year’s result—is a truly extraordinary achievement for me and my wife, Valeria Zuppardo,” said Pier Daniele Seu, who is currently abroad overseeing the openings of the Pizza Bar Seu locations at Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts—the latest of which opened in Tokyo on September 4.
Born in Rome in 1987, Seu has built his culinary identity on a specific principle: pizza as a contemporary language, capable of engaging with haute cuisine without sacrificing its artisanal nature. His journey began in 2016 with his victory in the Emergente Pizza contest, and in 2018 with the opening of SEU Pizza World, which in just a few years has become one of Italy’s most influential pizzerias for its dough-making techniques, choice of ingredients, and seasonal pairings.
A growing project: Introducing TAC – Thin And Crunchy
In 2024, Seu and Zuppardo launched a second concept alongside their main project: TAC – Thin And Crunchy, dedicated to thin and crispy pizza—the “scrocchiarella,” a traditional Roman specialty. Designed for a more dynamic and convivial dining experience, TAC is located in Mostacciano (Via Fiume delle Perle 136) and has already secured 45th place in the 2026 50 Top Pizza Italia rankings, in addition to 3 Spicchi from Gambero Rosso with a score of 93/100.
The accolades earned by the two locations reflect a consistent trajectory: Seu Pizza has earned 3 Gambero Rosso Segments (95/100), 13th place at The Best Pizza Awards 2026, and 3rd place at Pizza Maxima 2025. An entrepreneurial model that, starting from a neighborhood restaurant in Trastevere, is now present in Bvlgari Hotels around the world.
