Just sixty minutes from the capital, the village of Nemi is celebrating a magical Christmas. After officially gaining recognition in the exclusive network of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” (passing a very strict selection based on no less than 72 quality parameters), the town is preparing for an unforgettable holiday to make children and adults dream.
Christmas in Nemi is a destination to save for this season
Thanks to a partnership with This Is Wonderland, the historic center is home to more than 100 light installations dedicated to great classics such as Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. The tour is free and includes a map of the most striking photo spots. In fact, “Fairy Tale Places” are recommended to guide the public to take fun photographs and capture magical family moments among luminous characters, protagonists of the most beloved fairy tales.
The route will be open for the entire period of the holidays, with free admission, and will be enriched by cultural initiatives, art exhibitions, the characteristic nativity scene at Palazzo Ruspoli made by master amateurs, and also concerts and the spectacular descent of the Befana from the Castle.
In addition to the installations

To honor tradition and and craftsmanship: at Palazzo Ruspoli you can admire a unique handcrafted nativity scene, carved from Styrofoam with such skill that it looks like stone, as the village prepares for its candidacy as “Borgo dei Borghi 2026.”
In addition to the lights, Nemi offers priceless historical treasures, such as the Museum of Roman Ships-which houses the famous vessels of Emperor Caligula-and the remains of the majestic Temple of Diana.
World famous for its wild strawberries and Fragolino liqueur, the village boasts the charming “Lovers’ Terrace” overlooking the volcanic lake, a perfect place for a romantic getaway.
From traditional costume parades during the June festival to the magic of the winter illuminations, Nemi proves to be a vibrant center capable of combining innovation and deep roots.
