Are you planning to take the metro or bus during the holidays? Here are what are the “special” schedules to get around the city without any problems.
Schedules for December 24 (Christmas Eve)
Daytime service ends early, but continuity is provided by night buses. Buses, streetcars and subways will operate with the last trips from the terminals by 9 p.m. (just in time for dinner). The Roma-Lido and Roma-Centocelle railways will also close at 9:00 pm.
As for the Roma-Civita Castellana-Viterbo (urban section), the last departures from the terminuses (Flaminio and Montebello) will be around 8:00 pm. Afterwards, the connection will continue with replacement buses.
Night Service: the “n” bus lines will run during the night, the night service starts at 23:30.
🎅 Schedules for December 25 (Christmas).
On Christmas Day, service follows the holiday schedule and is divided into two shifts, with an afternoon break.
- General Network (Bus, Metro, Tram): operating from 8:30 am to 1 pm and 4:30 pm to 9 pm.
- Roma-Centocelle: operating exclusively in the morning slot.
- Rome-Lido: runs available between 7:49 am and 1:19 pm, and between 3:53 pm and 9:23 pm.
- Rome-Viterbo (urban section): operating from 7:30 am to 12:40 pm and from 3:40 pm to 9:15 pm. The suburban section will follow a specific reduced schedule.
- Night Service: Regular circulation of all night bus routes between December 25 and 26.
Schedules for December 31 (New Year’s Eve).
On Dec. 31 to allow everyone to celebrate the New Year comfortably, service will be extended for the subway and some strategic bus lines for the festivities.
- Metro lines (A, B/B1, C): extended service until 2:30 am.
- Special Bus Lines: the H, 2 (bus), 128, 170, 200, 280, 301, 336, 544, 766, 881, 905 and the n913 will run until 2:30 am.
- Rest of the Network (Buses and Trams): stop at 9 p.m.
- Rome-Lido: After train stop, replacement buses will operate from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am.
- Late night (2:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Jan. 1): only the night lines that retrace the route of the metro and Lido railway will operate: nMA, nMB, nMB1, nMC and nME.
Note for Jan. 1: Service on the entire network will resume regularly from 8 a.m. on a holiday schedule.
