Campania-based pizzaiola–already three Gambero Rosso slices with pizzeria La Contrada–has chosen to open her own place in the capital. Refined, crispy dough with mouthwatering, traditional toppings made with regional excellence.
Roberta Esposito, originally from Aversa, turned a casual question into a career in pizza, starting from her family restaurant. After achieving success with “La Contrada,” she opened “Marita” in Rome, combining tradition and innovation. The pizzeria offers a unique dough with type 1 flour, creating light and crispy pizzas that do not conform to traditional styles.
The menu includes classic and creative pizzas, such as the “Marinara Evolutiva” and the “Amarita.” Signature pizzas include the Gambero Rosso award-winning “Summer Light” and the “Garlic, Oil and Chili.” Marita also offers lactose-free and gluten-free pizzas, as well as gourmet appetizers in collaboration with chef Jacopo Manganello.
The cost of pizzas ranges from 10 to 25 euros for signature pizzas. For example, on the menu the most expensive is the “autunno“: provola cheese from the Lattari Mountains, pumpkin cream, diced pumpkin, lardo di colonnata, marinated egg, grana fondue and fine black truffle.
The restaurant, designed with a focus on sustainability, offers a bright and welcoming environment. The beverage list includes beers, wines and cocktails designed to match the dishes. Desserts include the “Tirababà”: baba dipped in coffee, mascarpone cream and
cocoa.
