Lidl is one of the leading supermarket chains in Europe, known for its discount store model. Founded in Germany in 1973 by Dieter Schwarz, it is part of the Schwarz Group, one of the world’s largest players in the large-scale retail sector. The company is headquartered in Neckarsulm, Germany, and has more than 12,000 stores in 31 countries. It has been present in Italy since 1992 with more than 750 stores and an assortment consisting of 80 percent Made in Italy products.
