La Gardenia Restaurant, located in Castel Gandolfo, is a renowned establishment in the Castelli Romani, famous for its seafood cuisine (it also offers meat) and breathtaking location overlooking Lake Albano. Founded in 1964, the venue is a landmark for those seeking a romantic experience as well as a relaxing lunch overlooking the lake. The location is especially popular for events such as weddings.
The restaurant is refined, with black dominating the color scheme. There are several rooms and lounges with only one table, for a private meal. The different rooms include:
- Sky Room, which offers a panoramic view of the lake, combining colors and fine furnishings for a cozy atmosphere
- Salotto Botanico, an outdoor terrace perfect for lunches and dinners during warm weather
- Cryptoportico, spaces with corridors and alcoves that create an intimate and romantic atmosphere, ideal for special events
What to eat at La Gardenia and how much does it cost?
The restaurant offers a menu that ranges from traditional Italian dishes to innovative offerings. It is particularly known for its fish dishes, both raw and cooked. Some of the more unique dishes include Spaghetto blue, Spirulina, Shrimp Ragout, Saffron Cream and Black Bread (18 euros), Rigatone Cacio e Pepe with Turmeric, Shrimp and Crispy Artichokes (18 euros), Calamari stuffed with Parma Ham on Creamy Zucchini (25 euros) and Fried St. Pierre in Anchovy Sauce, Green Apple and Plankton Mayonnaise (18 euros).
Dessert side: they offer apple pie with custard, zabaglione mousse scented with coffee, cocoa crumble and soft caramel heart and pistachio profiterol.
Having tried it personally, we can say that the service is good, attentive and friendly. They also allow small dogs.
