The second edition of “Jingle Pet,” a day-long celebration dedicated to adoptions of Rome’s dogs and cats, is coming up on Friday , Dec. 13, at the Muratella kennels on Via della Magliana 856. The event, which will begin at 3:30 p.m., celebrates the loving gesture of those who adopted an animal from municipal facilities during 2024 and aims to further promote the campaign for conscious adoptions.
Also participating in the event will be associations affiliated with Rome’s kennels and catteries, which care for dogs housed in municipal facilities on a daily basis. These volunteers play a key role in ensuring animal welfare and encouraging adoptions.
Adoption data
In 2023, more than 800 dogs were adopted from the municipal kennels of Muratella and Ponte Marconi, while between 450 and 500 cats found homes thanks to the associations that manage the Porta Portese Feline Oasis and affiliated catteries.
Roma Capitale’s Councillor for the Environment, Sabrina Alfonsi, already emphasized the value of the initiative last year: “With this Christmas Day we want to say thank you to the many people who have chosen to make an important gesture of love. It is also a moment to create a community of solidarity and awareness.”
Reiterating the importance of responsible adoption, “An animal is not a Christmas present, but a choice that must be made with awareness. We invite citizens to visit our facilities and expand their families by taking in a dog or cat.” The goal is to give more and more impetus to adoption campaigns, enhancing the Roman tradition of love and care for animals.
“Jingle Pet” is confirmed as a symbolic event that celebrates solidarity with animals and the special bond between humans and four-legged friends. With Christmas approaching, the initiative is not only an opportunity to celebrate those who have already adopted, but also to encourage new families to make this important gesture of (conscious) love.
