Hundreds of butterflies a stone’s throw from the Appia Antica
Not everyone knows that in spring in Rome you can visit the beautiful House of Butterflies. In the Great Greenhouse, a tropical environment has been recreated where there are over thirty species of exotic butterflies. One can walk through this place as the butterflies flutter and court each other in a unique dance.
A staff of trained biologists and entomologists provide all the information you need to discover the entire butterfly life cycle. If you are lucky, you can witness the hatching of the chrysalis and the birth of a new creature.
The Butterfly House in 2025 will always be in the beautiful setting of AppiaAntica, in Appia Joy Park, Rome’s new multifunctional agricultural park.
The opening is set for March 22. Until June 15, it will be possible to admire these wonderful specimens in an environment that reproduces their natural habitat and discover some of the world’s most beautiful butterflies. In addition, the greenhouse will also host some unique insects, such as the stick insect, leaf insects, Madagascar whistling cockroaches and the friendly Giant Centipede.
