As the cold weather arrives, there comes an increasing desire to take refuge in eating warm traditional dishes in front of a fireplace. At Monte Livata you can enjoy homemade truffle dishes with a crazy view of the mountains. We’re talking about Grammo, the Truffle Cave, a family-run restaurant that brings local truffles to the table (the owners are truffle hunters). An activity carried out with passion and documented by the various photographs hanging in the restaurant.
The Truffle Grotto is reminiscent of a small, stylishly furnished mountain lodge; special items can also be found on display, in addition to the many bottles of wine and champagne.
As for the menu, you can order fettuccine, lasagna, truffle egg, truffle cheese, and truffle meat… Everything smells like truffles in the Grotto. A side dish to try is papaciucco, a traditional Sublacensis dish prepared with black cabbage and potatoes (sublime!).
Grammo is open Wednesday through Sunday, Friday and Saturday for both lunch and dinner. And it is located precisely at Viale dei Boschi, 10, 00028 Livata (RM). For reservations: 329 217 6666.
Mount Livata: what to do
Mount Livata is a mountain located in the Simbruini Mountains chain in Lazio, about 15 km from Subiaco and 80 km from Rome. With an altitude ranging from 1300 to 1855 meters, it is known as “the mountain of Rome” and is the only ski resort in the metropolitan area of the Capital. We are talking about a resort where you can do outdoor activities throughout the year; an ideal destination for families, sportsmen and nature lovers.
In winter, Monte Livata is frequented for skiing and snowshoeing. In summer, however, it becomes a haven for hikers, cyclists and horseback riders. It is common to see free-roaming animals among the expanses of land, sometimes even in the street between parking lots. Among the main attractions is the sledinovia, a rail trail surrounded by nature that entertains young and old alike. Must do!
