We are talking about one of the landmarks of modern baking and excellent takeaway breakfasts in Rome. It is located at Viale dei Quattro Venti 152 C/D (Monteverde) and is a must for those who love top-quality leavened products.
The “underground” address in Rome where you can find the best breakfasts of your life
There is a small open workshop in the heart of a historic district of the capital that is making a name for itself like few others. It is not your usual quick breakfast bar; it is a place where creativity and passion are reflected in the offerings.
Once you cross the threshold, you won’t find the classic “cornetterie” (pastry shops) found in motorway service stations, but modern creations that blend French and Northern European techniques. Regulars have no doubts: “I’ve had some of the best breakfasts of my life here,” reads one of the many reviews on Google. The menu is a journey between the classic and the unusual.
Canneles, whiskey, raw beet sugar and muscovado, vanilla; the 9:30 a.m. Veneziana, a real cloud of butter filled with custard, served strictly warm; Veneziana with dark chocolate chantilly cream and orange marmalade; dolcetto with whole wheat croissant dough, custard, plum jam, and seeds; and much more (including limited-time offerings).
Not just sweet: savory breakfast and “out of this world” coffee
For those who love contrast, savory croissants, ham and cheese or scrambled eggs are a must. But the real surprise for many is the red puff pastry pizza: what a treat. The coffee is also Specialty, 100% Arabica.
The place is small, so we recommend booking a table, especially for brunch or lunch on the weekend. The most iconic products sell out quickly. If you have something specific in mind, go early!
Parking is a bit of a problem in the area, but there is a car wash nearby where you can leave your car for the time it takes to enjoy a cappuccino and a Venetian pastry.
Please note: Grani, Farine e Caffè is closed on Mondays.
