In San Lorenzo a place to discover
It is called Said (Società Anonima Industria Dolciumi) and is a real gem in the capital. In fact, this ancient chocolate factory is found only in Rome, as far as the country is concerned. The other factories are in London and Dubai.
What is special about this place is that you can dine comfortably in the realm of chocolate. So, not only a store where those with a sweet tooth can find chocolate of all kinds – the spreads, gift ideas, citrus peels – but also a cozy restaurant.
The café is open for a tasty snack, happy hour, or dinner. Chocolate, needless to say, is the main item on the menu. We recommend trying the Sacher and the large cappuccino with the three chocolates. The prices are a bit high but the quality cannot be questioned.
The factory was born in 1923 thanks to Aldo de Mauro who began collaborating with a Swiss factory to produce the chocolate. In fact, in the beginning the brand name was Zurich. Then, the company was carried on by his sons, and over time the bistro was also introduced to eat inside with delicious dishes (chocolate is always the queen on the menu).
During the holidays, the chocolate factory in Rome offers traditional sweets with a tasty chocolate twist (white, dark or milk) and gift ideas for chocolate lovers.
