When you think of pizza by the slice, only one city comes to mind: Rome. Although they have spread all over Italy by now, in the capital you can find really spatial pizzerias by the slice!
Recently another one opened where Circoletto (of the Trecastelli brothers) used to be. Manuel and Nicolò have, in fact, opened a new project in the same premises on Via dei Cerchi, right in front of the Circus Maximus. This new place is called Fratelli Trecca and offers a gastronomic proposal that combines pizza by the slice with dishes of Roman cuisine, focusing on ingredients used in the territory.
This new project represents a hybrid of their three businesses, which also include Trattoria Trecca and Pantera Pizza Rustica. The goal is to offer a more sustainable experience in terms of hours and management, closing by 9-10 p.m. (Mondays are closed).
Pizza al Taglio in front of the Circus Maximus
The menu features pizza al taglio, a classic of Roman tradition, with special pairings that respect seasonality: puntarelle and anchovies; capocollo, stracchinato di pecora, house artichokes in oil; red with tripe; caramelized onion; tuna and onion; etc. Pizza is sold by the piece, and as fried foods we find cod fillet and supplì.
In addition to pizza, there are also many vegetables and Roman dishes. The goal is to maintain a cozy and familiar atmosphere, consistent with the philosophy of the Trecastelli brothers. Beer is on tap and wine is bulk.
