Have you ever heard of the money plant (or millionaria)? Known scientifically as Plectranthus verticillatus, it is an evergreen species in the Lamiaceae family, which according to many cultures, including China, is considered a symbol of economic stability and prosperity, and is often used to attract wealth and financial well-being.
This plant is indoor because it prefers temperate or warm climate environments and cannot tolerate the low temperatures and climatic changes typical of the outdoors. It is advisable to keep it indoors away from direct sunlight.
How to care for the millionaire plant
To keep this plant alive you will need to water it once a week in summer and once every two weeks in winter. It is important to avoid water stagnation to prevent root rot. Also, putting a fertilizer every 15 days during the growing season (mid-autumn to mid-winter) will help it grow. And remember to remove dry leaves.
The optimum temperature for the plant is between 17 and 23 °C.
Where to find the money plant
In cities such as Rome, the money plant can be found in specialized nurseries, plant and gardening stores, as well as in shopping centers dedicated to greenery and interior design.
