From September 11 it will be operational
On September 10, 2024, a new overnight rail link connecting Rome with Vienna and Munich was inaugurated, with intermediate stops in Florence and Bologna. This service is the result of a collaboration between Trenitalia and the Austrian railway company ÖBB, which uses its state-of-the-art Nightjet trains. The train consists of fourteen carriages, which split in Villach: seven carriages continue to Vienna, while the other seven head to Munich. The total capacity of the train is 500 seats.
The new trains, which we have told you about before, are equipped with free Wi-Fi with access to the ÖBB Railnet Night portal, displays with various functions, mini bars, video surveillance and electronic access systems.
The Nightjet departs daily from Rome Tiburtina at 5:25 p.m., stopping at Firenze Santa Maria Novella and Bologna Centrale, and then on to Villach, Klagenfurt, Leoben, Bruck an der Mur, and finally Vienna at 9:04 a.m. the next day. The section bound for Munich arrives at its destination at 9:22 a.m.. In the opposite direction, the train departs from Munich at 8:10 p.m. and from Vienna at 7:18 p.m., rejoining in Villach at 1:03 a.m. and continuing to Rome, arriving at Tiburtina at 11:05 a.m..
This new Nightjet connection strengthens Trenitalia’s offering to Austria and Germany.
