Have you ever noticed how Rome in May seems to smile? The city lights up under an already warm but not yet oppressive sun, the streets come alive and Romans come out of their winter shells. It is the perfect time to explore the Capital, when the air smells of flowers and the days are getting longer giving you more time to discover the city’s most beautiful corners. The weather is ideal: mild temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees, less frequent rainfall and a golden light that caresses monuments and buildings.
In May we can enjoy outdoor restaurants but also many unique events. Here are the ones we think you should definitely mark in your diary!
Titanic – A journey through time
Get ready for an extraordinary experience at Rome’s Forte Trionfale with “Titanic – A Journey Through Time.” This incredible virtual reality adventure will transport you to the depths of the ocean to explore the wreck as it stands today, nearly 2.5 miles below the surface, before catapulting you back to 1912. You’ll walk the legendary Grand Staircase, meet the people who made history on this iconic ship, and discover the personal stories of the passengers.
Hurry because there are still a few tickets left!
Candlelight Spring Concerts
The world’s most famous candlelight concerts, Candlelight, return to Rome in a spring version. Get ready to hear the most exciting musical tributes, amid candles and flowers: Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Nirvana, Vasco Rossi. Find out the dates and locations here.
Neon Brush
Are you ready to have more fun than ever? Neon Brush is a creative painting workshop in Rome with drinks, music and fluorescent colors in a retro-futuristic setting. A new experience in the city to try!

Visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.
Rome is a city that never ceases to amaze us. There are many things to see but there are some stops, in our opinion, that are mandatory in the city. Among them is a visit to the Vatican Museums with the wonderful Sistine Chapel. Discover these masterpieces with no lines!
Get to know the Biopark
Do you love nature? Then why not plan a trip to the Bioparco in Rome, an amazing place with a variety of exotic animals and where a forest will soon be born. There are events scheduled every day for a more immersive experience.
Visit the Garden of Nymph
How about a nice trip out of town in May near Rome? We suggest the Garden of Ninfa, located between Norma and Sermoneta in the province of Latina. Described by the New York Times as “one of the most romantic gardens in the world,” this historic park will leave you breathless. Strolling through the ruins of an ancient medieval city, you will discover more than 1,300 species of plants and flowers from every corner of the planet. In May, the show is at its peak: cherry and ornamental apple trees in bloom, magnolias, birch trees, marsh irises, and an impressive variety of Japanese maples.
Museum Night 2025
Mark the date: Saturday, May 17, 2025 sees the return of one of Rome’s most anticipated events in May, Museum Night. Now in its 14th Capitol edition, the event takes place in conjunction with the Nuit Européenne Des Musées, close to International Museum Day on May 18.
From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. (last entry at 1 a.m.), you will be able to access the museums of the Sistema Musei di Roma Capitale, the State Museums and numerous other cultural spaces in the city with a symbolic 1 euro ticket. The evening will be enriched by a full program of events, performances and cultural initiatives ranging from theater to music, dance, literature and cinema.
Behold the roses of Rome
From April 21 to June 15, 2025, one of the most striking places to visit in Rome is the Municipal Rose Garden, a true green jewel overlooking the Circus Maximus. This 10,000-square-foot space welcomes Romans and tourists free of charge every day from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in spring and fall. The current entrance is at Clivo dei Publicii 3, due to road works. In the main garden you can admire botanical, ancient and modern roses from all over the world, some dating back 40 million years. In the smaller area, on the other hand, the competitions of the prestigious international competition “Premio Roma,” which has an almost 100-year tradition, take place. If you are looking for what to see in Rome of particular note in May, this floral paradise is ideal for a rejuvenating break between history and nature.
International Horse Competition
From May 21-25, 2025, Villa Borghese will host the 92nd edition of the Concorso Ippico Internazionale di Roma (CSIO), one of Italy’s most prestigious events for this sport. In this historic and evocative setting, you will be able to watch the spectacular performances of the best pairs on the international show jumping scene. The competition will reach its climax on Sunday, May 25, with the long-awaited Rolex Gran Premio Roma. The competitions will take place on two courses: the Oval of Piazza di Siena and the Galoppatoio di Villa Borghese. Find the schedule for all days of the event here. It will be a unique opportunity to experience the magical atmosphere of the sport in one of the most beautiful parks in the Capital, in a perfect combination of art, design and sustainable zero-impact architecture.

Discover picturesque little London
Not everyone knows that there is a very special little street in the capital, named “Little London.” In fact, the buildings on Bernardo Celentano Street are just reminiscent of English buildings. The colorful cottages reflect the British style, with a small space between the wooden door and the iron gate.
An aperitif in the Castelli Romani
As the sun begins to set, there is nothing better than heading to the Castelli Romani for an aperitif with a view. For example, in Frascati, Livello 13 offers an unmissable experience: outdoor tables where you can enjoy the cool evening breeze, sophisticated cocktails, and an excellent selection of local wines.
If you prefer the more traditional atmosphere of fraschetterie, go quietly to Ariccia, where you’ll find places like Dar Burino Fraschetta. Their taglieri are almost dinner, with high quality products and really attentive service. Don’t forget to try the porchetta di Ariccia IGP, a true symbol of local gastronomy.
Dance at Roma Summer Fest 2025
One of Rome’s most anticipated events in May? The Roma Summer Fest 2025. This music festival, organized by the Fondazione Musica per Roma in the outdoor space of the Cavea, brings the biggest names in national and international music to the capital.
