Like every year, Science Week in Rome returns, organized to bring the citizenry, especially young people and students, closer to scientific research and technical-scientific culture in a broad and accessible way.
The event includes outreach events, workshops, seminars and interactive activities for all ages, with a focus on current issues such as sustainability, health and technological innovation. The week culminates with the European Researchers’ Night, a time dedicated to raising awareness of the work of researchers and the value of science in society.
The Science Week program

Rome is preparing to host a program of science events dedicated to students, families and the general public, particularly focusing on topics in medicine, biology and infectious disease prevention. To make reservations: spallanzani@koncept.it.
A seminar aimed at high school students on the role of mosquitoes in the spread of viruses, climatic and environmental effects, and preventive strategies will be held on Monday, Sept. 22, at the Spallanzani Conference Center. (9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., two sessions)
Tuesday, Sept. 23 scheduled film screening “Dallas Buyers Club” and scientific discussion (9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). This is a film about HIV in the 1980s, followed by discussion with experts on discrimination, science and the health struggle.
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, pending screening of the film “Contagion” followed by a scientific debate (9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). It is a pandemic thriller film with debate and expert testimony to delve into health emergencies.
Thursday, Sept. 25 is the Regional Health Service Artists Concert (8:30 p.m.), a performance by bands composed of health workers, featuring rock and pop music under the stars.
On Sept. 26, the European Researchers’ Night will be held in Rome, from 7 p.m. to midnight, in different areas.
The event, the final part of Science Week, is promoted by the European Commission and curated by Frascati Scienza as part of the #LEAF (“heAL thE plAnet’s FuturE”) project. It aims to bring the public closer to the world of research through interactive activities, exhibitions, workshops and performances, engaging citizens, students and young people with fun and engaging scientific experiences.
Not to be missed on Sept. 27, from 9:30 to 11 p.m., in Frascati’s Piazza San Pietro, the magical world of Hogwarts with “The Science of Harry Potter” by Luca Perri.
