Feel like going to the beach to eat fresh fish? In early June, we stayed at Da Fabio in Neptune, a little place a stone’s throw from the sea that we recommend you try. It is known for its hearty seafood dishes; an entrée can very well be split in two.
The restaurant offers a set menu focused on the local catch, with an emphasis on the quality of the ingredients. Crudo appetizers, oysters, and seafood entrees are among the most popular specialties. Fresh pasta is often prepared directly in the dining room by chef Fabio, who stands out for his attentive presence and care for customers.
What to eat at Chef Fabio’s
We were on a holiday, but this did not affect the quality of service. The set menu we were offered (35 euros per person) included an appetizer with a choice between marinated salmon and mussel sauté, a first course with a choice between spaghetti with clams and lupins and risotto with langoustine cream, a second course between fried fish and the catch of the day, and to finish a tart. A glass of wine was also included in the price.
The freshness and goodness of the dishes were not lacking. Service was fast and friendly, with the chef personally taking care of the reception and room control. There are a few tables outside, and the indoor setting is cool, which we think is preferable if it is a summer lunch.
Another restaurant Da Fabio in Nettuno in the village also recently opened, and there the menu is a la carte.
