Atac has announced that it will intensify work on the subway’s A line in August because there is a sharp drop in demand (up to 70 percent) during this month, making it the time of year with fewer subway riders.
“We will carry out, ” reads the Atac website, ” activities of particular complexity that are not compatible with evening closures and train circulation among them the installation on part of the track of “ballast-less” trackside in place of sleepers and crushed stone, and waterproofing of the platforms in the stations undergoing restyling will be improved. The implementation of the new armament, will allow the maintenance plan to be improved over the years. The extended period of summer closure will enable increased productivity of the already active construction site. ”
Stations closed in August and Metro A schedules
From August 10 to 25, the Termini-Battistini closure is planned. Train circulation between these two stations will be replaced by a bus service called MA6. As for the stations between Termini and Anagnina, they will remain active. From 9 p. m. Sunday through Thursday, the entire A line will be replaced with MA line buses due to evening work. Friday and Saturday, active circulation until 1:30 a.m. on the Termini-Anagnina section.
Until the end of service on August 9 and from the start of service on August 26, this schedule remains: metro A active on the entire line until 1:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; from 9 p.m. (Sunday-Thursday) the entire metro A will be replaced by the MA bus line.
For major restyling work, the Ottaviano and Spagna stations will be closed until September 9 and October 3, respectively. In addition, the special overhaul of the escalators at the Furio Camillo station, originally scheduled for 2025, has been brought forward. Furio Camillo will be closed from August 19 to November 6.
