A few months ago “Limito,” the world’s largest vineyard-labyrinth, opened in the Antoniana Park on Carpineti’s organic winery in Cori, in the province of Latina. Designed by Paolo Carpineti and built by landscape architect Fernando Bernardi, the labyrinth has a diameter of 80 meters, four entrances and two distinct paths. It was conceived as a work of land art to offer an immersive and unique experience, inviting visitors to “get lost to find themselves” in the heart of nature.
The vineyard uses native grape varieties such as Bellone, Nero Buono and Abbuoto, historical varieties rediscovered by the winery. These are grown with organic methods and represent the link with the Monti Lepini territory. The structure of the labyrinth, with waves and spirals, not only enriches the aesthetics but also helps optimize the ripening of the grapes.
Officially opened in 2024 after four years of work, “Limito” is part of the Carpineti family’s project to turn their vineyards into open-air museums. Visitors can explore the labyrinth and conclude the experience with tastings of wines and local products, celebrating the beauty of the landscape and Lazio’s winemaking tradition.
The experience (April through October) includes a visit to the labyrinth, immersed in the wilderness, walking along curving paths that evoke the path of life, and a tasting of organic wines, three labels from Carpineti winery, accompanied by a board of local products.
The plateau at 500 meters above sea level offers breathtaking views, surrounded by forests, small lakes and extraordinary biodiversity. The itinerary culminates with a tasting celebrating the local wine tradition.
