In 2023, the heirs were asking for 15 million euros. Today, 11.5 million is enough, and a buyer has yet to come forward. The Gucci villa in Rome—the residence that Aldo Gucci had built on Via della Camilluccia—is still on the market with a 3.5 million discount.
Where is Gucci’s house in Rome?
We’re in northern Rome, on Via della Camilluccia, not far from Via Mario Fani: a street lined with embassies, religious institutions, and gates that block the view.
Vigna Clara is right next door, the Olympic Stadium is just a few minutes away, and the city center is about a ten-minute drive (traffic permitting—and we all know how that goes).
There are two separate villas. The second has its own entrance on Via Pecori Giraldi: Aldo had it built in the early 1960s for one of his sons.
What can you buy for 11.5 million?
Approximately 2,000 square meters of indoor space, divided between a 1,100-square-meter villa and a 900-square-meter villa, set within a 2.5-hectare private park. To give you an idea: that’s 25,000 square meters of green space in northern Rome, with a swimming pool in the middle and its own changing rooms.
Inside, the highlight is a spiral staircase around which the entire house is arranged.

Then there are reception rooms, a dining room, a study, professional kitchens, and separate access routes for the service staff.
The master suite overlooks the park, featuring a walk-in closet and two bathrooms; the other bedrooms all have private bathrooms. There’s also an entire floor designed for entertaining, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the terraces.
At the top is the rooftop, with a postcard-perfect view of the Altare della Patria. Even with the discount, it remains among the most expensive homes in Rome.
Why is there an English villa on Via della Camilluccia?
Aldo Gucci arrived from Florence in 1938 to manage the newly opened store at Via Condotti 21. He completed the villa in 1951, and it has little that is typically Roman: the facades feature bay windows—the protruding windows typical of English homes—with a few Tuscan touches.
The reason is Olwen Price, Aldo’s British wife, whom he married in 1927. And she is the protagonist of the story I promised.
During the German occupation of Rome, Olwen helped Allied soldiers find hiding places and escape routes. She did so with a group of Irish priests and the support of the Vatican, without involving her husband, and after the war ended, she received official recognition from a British general.
What Happened to the Guccis of Camilluccia?
Giorgio, Paolo, and Roberto grew up in this house, and this is where the family gathered for holidays. Then came the feuds you’re familiar with from *House of Gucci*, where Aldo is portrayed by Al Pacino: in 1980, he sued his son Paolo, who wanted to use the family name for his own brand.
Today, the brand belongs to the Kering Group, and the two villas on Via della Camilluccia are looking for a new owner. Requirements: 11.5 million and the willingness to mow the lawn in a 2.5-hectare park.
