September marks a return to routine and, with it, the desire to tackle home organization. According to the IKEA Store & Organize Report 2026—based on a survey of over 31,000 people in 31 countries—82% of people keep items for sentimental reasons, even when they no longer use them. From this perspective, organizing your home doesn’t mean throwing away memories, but rather finding a balance between functionality and what truly matters. With this theme in mind, IKEA is hosting three days of events open to everyone at its three stores in Rome.
The theme of the weekend is the FRAKTA bag, the iconic blue shopping bag that turns 30 this year. Anyone who comes to the store with an item in the same shade of blue can test it on the “FRAKTOMETER”: if the color passes the test, you’ll receive a FRAKTA along with two coupons—one for a plate of eight meatballs (meat, falafel, fish, or vegetarian), valid at the Swedish Restaurant through September 6, and a €20 discount on a minimum purchase of €100, redeemable in-store through September 30. At Fiumicino, the restaurant voucher is valid at “Sapori Svedesi.”
The schedule of activities at the three stores

The schedule is packed and focuses primarily on younger people. “Count, Guess, Win!” brings a pyramid made of transparent SAMLA containers to the stores: the challenge is to guess the exact number of items inside. The activity takes place on Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th at Anagnina, and on all three days at Porta di Roma and Fiumicino.
“In Search of Lost Order” is a treasure hunt designed for children, scheduled for Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th at all three stores. The same weekend also features “My Very Own GLIS Box, ” a creative workshop where children receive a free GLIS box to decorate with colors and drawings.
Those looking for practical inspiration can participate in the workshop “Spaces Designed for Better Living” —on Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th at Porta di Roma, and Friday the 4th at Anagnina—dedicated to concrete solutions for transforming every corner of the home into a more functional space.
The full schedule for each store is available on the official IKEA Italy website. Admission to all events is free.
