Cheese lovers, watch out, because Formaticum, the market exhibition dedicated to Italian dairy excellence, is back in the capital. Its sixth edition will be held on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2, 2025. The event, organized by La Pecora Nera Editore and Dol – of Lazio origin, will be held at the Città dell’Altra Economia in the Testaccio district, with a program full of new features.
“Food is not just a physical need, but a powerful symbol of connection, tradition and mutual care. When we talk about food, we talk about lands, people, histories and cultures that are intertwined over time. In this sense, food becomes a universal language, capable of building bridges between differences and promoting peace,” specifies Vincenzo Mancino, expert dairy connoisseur and owner of Dol.
Formaticum promotes food as a symbol of cultural connection. Participants will have the opportunity to discover and purchase Italian dairy rarities such as Montébore, Storico Ribelle, Blu di Capra, and Cacio Moscio Avellano, alongside classics such as Parmigiano Reggiano and mozzarella di bufala.
What’s new for the 2025 edition
In addition to the traditional City of Other Economy area, the Gastronomic Collective area will also be involved, where visitors will be able to taste cheeses, wines from small producers in Lazio and dishes prepared with cheeses from participating companies from all over Italy (25 producers).
In addition, a contest open to the public will take place; visitors will be able to vote for their favorite cheese via a QR code provided at the entrance. In addition to prizes awarded by a jury of experts for the fresh, semi-mature and aged categories, an overall winner will be decided based on public votes.
