Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino has officially confirmed its leading position in the global airport landscape. And this comes as no surprise. Among the many new features introduced, the implementation of latest-generation 3D scanners, which allow passengers to carry containers of liquids up to 2 liters and leave electronic devices such as PCs and tablets inside their suitcases, has drastically reduced waiting times at security checkpoints.
ASQ Awards 2025
According to data from the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards 2025, published in February 2026 by ACI World (Airports Council International), Rome’s airport was voted Best Airport in Europe in the category of hubs with over 40 million passengers per year. This is a historic achievement, as Fiumicino has received this award for the ninth consecutive year!
Fiumicino achieved an overall satisfaction score of 4.64 out of 5, based on direct interviews with over 700,000 passengers. This high level of satisfaction allowed the airport to literally “sweep the board,” winning awards in all categories of excellence: terminal cleanliness, staff courtesy, smooth security checks, and overall pleasantness of the experience (shops, restaurants, and relaxation areas).

Ciampino also awarded
This triumph is not isolated to Fiumicino. Ciampino Airport (G.B. Pastine) also shone, winning first place in its category (airports with between 2 and 5 million passengers) for the third consecutive year. This demonstrates the strength of the entire airport system in the capital. Furthermore, it is important to note that Fiumicino does not only excel in the ACI World rankings: last spring, the rating agency Skytrax also included the Roman airport in its prestigious “Top 10” list of the best airports in the world, awarding it the coveted 5 stars.
The official awards ceremony, as reported by ADR, will take place in late summer 2026 in Istanbul, where the top management will receive the awards confirming Rome as the leading hub for excellence in global airport hospitality.
