Autumn in Lazio is not only falling leaves and crisp air. It is, above all, a riot of scents, hot dishes and folk festivals that bring entire villages together. Who has never tasted a steaming plate of pappardelle al cinghiale in a festively decorated square? Or drunk a glass of new wine while folk music fills the streets of a village?
Festivals in Lazio are the most authentic way to discover the flavors of tradition, but also to experience the conviviality that only these events can provide. This year, between September and November, there are celebrations dedicated to mushrooms, chestnuts, truffles, sweets and rustic dishes.
Here is a guide to the most beautiful festivals in Lazio in autumn, selected for you:
Porcini Mushroom Festival – Colle di Fuori, Rocca Priora

When: September 5-7 and 12-14, 2025
The 31st edition of the Sagra del Fungo Porcino draws more than 50,000 visitors each year to the heart of the Castelli Romani. In Colle di Fuori, a hamlet nestled in the Castelli Park, the “king of the woods” is celebrated with hearty dishes: fettuccine, risottos, polenta and roasts cooked by local restaurants with porcini mushrooms harvested in the area. There is no shortage of arrosticini, bruschetta, supplì and pizza, accompanied by DOC wines from Lazio. In addition to taste, lots of live music, children’s area, crafts and even nature walks for a complete experience.
Festival of the Abbacchio – Roiate
When: September 5-7, 2025
Roiate celebrates abbacchio with a festival that smells of history and conviviality. Pasta all’arrabbiata, abbacchio alla cacciatora and popular dishes prepared by the pro loco enliven the menu. The Abbacchio Festival is enriched by folk music, guided tours and cultural initiatives such as “Walking with Benedict.” Sunday concludes with a folk raffle involving the entire town. An event that combines taste and tradition in a warm and authentic atmosphere.
Roma Baccalà – Garbatella, Rome
When: 18-21 September 2025
Rome’s Garbatella district comes alive with the sixth edition of Roma Baccalà, an event celebrating the capital’s love for this versatile fish. Four days of showcooking, tastings and popular competitions in which anyone can propose their own cod or stockfish recipe. The jury of journalists and chefs decrees the winner, but the real prize is the atmosphere of participation that involves the whole neighborhood. Between intense aromas and creative dishes, the festival confirms Rome as the beating heart of Lazio’s culinary traditions.
Centenary of the Sagra dell’Uva – Marino

When: Sept. 27-Oct. 6, 2025
The most iconic of festivals near Rome celebrates 100 years! Marino’s Sagra dell’Uva (Grape Festival ) is famous for its highlight: the wine that actually flows from the village’s fountains. The festival, started in 1925 by poet Leone Ciprelli, enlivens the center with historical parades, Renaissance costume shows and concerts. The central event is the first Sunday in October, when thousands of people gather to toast together. Between culture and folklore, there is no shortage of re-enactments of Marcantonio Colonna’s victorious return after Lepanto.
Chestnut Festival – Soriano nel Cimino
When: October 3-19, 2025
In autumn, Soriano nel Cimino is transformed into a medieval village thanks to the Sagra delle Castagne, one of the oldest and most evocative festivals in Lazio in October. Historical re-enactments, costume parades and tournaments between contrade take visitors back in time. The origins of the festival date back to the 15th century, when the community wanted to honor the symbolic fruit of the area. Today, in addition to tasting roasted chestnuts and chestnut dishes, visitors can watch flag-waving performances and enjoy an experience that combines taste, folklore and history.
Truffle Festival – Canterano
When: 11-12 and 18-19 October 2025
Canterano, named “City of Truffles,” celebrates the gold of the Aniene Valley with a festival that smells of authenticity. The Truffle Festival is a hymn to the connection with nature: locally harvested truffles enhance traditional recipes prepared with genuine products. Noodles, bruschetta and main courses enriched by the prized ingredient become the heart of a menu that brings the history of the area to the table. An event that unites gourmets and enthusiasts in a warm, family atmosphere.
Pappardella al Cinghiale Festival – Sacrofano
When: October 18-19, 2025
Sacrofano dedicates an entire weekend to fresh pappardelle pasta seasoned with wild boar ragout, a traditional Latium staple. The Sagra della Pappardella al Cinghiale (Festival of Pappardella with Wild Boar ) also offers barbecues, typical desserts and mulled wine, accompanied by walks on Mount Musino and guided tours of the medieval village. There are also craft markets, live music and even a parade of vintage cars and motorcycles. A festival that combines cuisine, nature and a passion for local traditions.
Must Donut Festival – Marino
When: 19 October 2025
The sweet smell of must invades Marino for the Sagra della Ciambella al Mosto (Must Donut Festival), which in 2025 reaches its 28th edition. This typical sweet of the Castelli Romani, prepared with grape must from local vineyards, encapsulates all the authenticity of peasant traditions related to the grape harvest. The day is enriched by free tastings, contests to elect the best doughnut, music, shows and street performers. A mouth-watering and festive event that confirms Marino as the capital of autumn celebrations.
The Segnino Brown – Segni
When: 23-26 October 2025
The Segnino Chestnut Festival brings to the forefront a chestnut of significant size and intense flavor. The streets of the village fill with “fraschette,” the typical taverns serving local dishes in which the brown is the absolute protagonist. Tastings, historical processions, folk music and guided tours of archaeological heritage enrich the event. A mix of taste and culture that tells of the deep connection between Segni and its territory.
Sausage Festival – Morlupo
When: 25-26 October 2025
Since 1967 Morlupo has been paying homage to sausage with a festival that centers on a giant grill in the square. Hundreds of sausages freshly roasted and served with fragrant rosettes captivate every palate. The Sausage Festival is also a laboratory of culinary creativity: local restaurants offer special recipes such as tonnarelli with sausage, stewed beans, and baked potatoes. Concerts, exhibitions, dances and markets make the festival suitable for young and old, transforming the village into a square of conviviality.
