You read that right: Burger King has announced its french-fry scent for Italian customers.
Burger King is one of the world’s most iconic fast food chains, with a history rooted in the 1950s. Founded in 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida, as Insta-Burger King by Keith Kramer and Matthew Burns, the company relied on the use of innovative machines such as the “Insta-Broiler” to cook burgers. However, financial difficulties led to the sale of the company in 1954 to Miami franchisees James McLamore and David Edgerton. The new owners renamed the chain “Burger King” and introduced the famous Whopper in 1957, a burger that became the symbol of the brand. The franchise strategy allowed for rapid expansion in the United States and abroad, with the first European restaurant opening in Madrid in 1975 and the Italian restaurant opening in Milan in 1999.
Today Burger King has more than 20,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries, maintaining its identity through its open flame grill and “Have it your way” motto. In Italy, the chain has continued to grow rapidly, reaching more than 280 restaurants in 18 regions.
