One of the UK’s most prestigious private schools has chosen the capital for its European expansion. The school will be located in a charming area in the Salario-Nomentana district. It is a historic building (a former convent) that will be renovated to house modern classrooms, state-of-the-art science laboratories, arts and design spaces, and even a swimming pool and sports facilities.
When will Brighton College open in Rome?

The official inauguration, at Via Nomentana 236, is scheduled for September 2027. Work has already begun, and the institute will welcome students in a wide age range, from 3 to 18 years old. What makes it special (and controversial)? Brighton College is not an ‘international school’ like any other: it regularly tops the British rankings for A-level results ( their high school diploma).
At the English campus, Chinese is compulsory from an early age (4-5 years old), but the Roman campus’s communication states that Mandarin is planned for “Years 7 and 8,” which in the Italian school system correspond to the first and second years of middle school.
In addition, it will be one of the few institutions in Rome to offer student accommodation, thus attracting students from all over Italy and abroad. The college’s motto focuses heavily on the combination of curiosity and kindness, seeking to mitigate the image of private schools as rigid and competitive.
How much does it cost?
Although there are no definitive figures yet, there is talk of ‘competitive’ tuition fees compared to other large international schools in Rome (which already charge significant amounts). In the UK, tuition fees cost more than €30,000. However, there are several scholarships available for academic, sporting, or artistic merit.
