With the arrival of spring, Rome and its province are preparing to welcome back one of the most anticipated and noble events on the charity calendar. From tomorrow, Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 22, 2026, the capital will participate in the 33rd edition of the “AIL Easter Eggs” campaign.

An event that is not just a tradition, but a show of support for the fight against leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Over 900 volunteers will take to the streets to staff 200 stations spread throughout the metropolitan area.

The event, promoted by the AIL Rome chapter under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, transforms a simple gesture— the purchase of a milk or dark chocolate egg —into a direct investment in scientific research and patient care. With a minimum donation of 15 euros, every citizen can help fund state-of-the-art laboratories and home care services that make Rome a leading center in hematology.
The role of students
This year, the event takes on a special educational significance thanks to the “La Piazza dei Ragazzi” project. In central areas such as Piazza Buenos Aires and Piazza Verbano, management will be entrusted entirely to students from the Via Volsinio/Esopo Comprehensive School. The students will not be mere helpers, but will be fully responsible for logistics and communication, bringing a breath of enthusiasm and digital freshness to the fundraiser.
At the same time, the “Generazione AIL” group, made up of volunteers under 35, will be running the station in Piazza Ungheria, demonstrating how the fight against blood cancers is a cause that unites people of all ages.
