In Biccari, a picturesque town of about 2,600 inhabitants in the province of Foggia, the real estate market is undergoing an unexpected revolution. Although the “1-Euro Homes” project was created to combat depopulation, the reality of the market has taken a different turn: buyers, especially international ones, prefer to invest modest sums but receive properties in better condition in return.
The online catalog featuring homes priced from €1 to €30,000
To meet this need, the municipal administration has decided to diversify its offerings. As Mayor Gianfilippo Mignogna told Idealista: “We have created an online catalog of homes ranging from 1 euro to 30,000 euros.” This decision stems from the realization that many foreign investors (from the United States, Argentina, Germany, and many other countries) are wary of the bureaucratic and logistical complications of a total renovation managed from afar. They therefore prefer homes in the historic center that require only minor maintenance, transforming them into “refuges” ready for immediate use.
The initiative is not just about real estate, but a true engine of regeneration. So far, the turnover from sales and the related renovation work has generated an economic flow of approximately 2 million euros for the local community .
Why choose Biccari?

Biccari is not just a medieval village frozen in time, but a strategic base for those seeking a balance between nature, authenticity, and relaxation. As for natural attractions, the village is immersed in an environmental setting rare for northern Puglia. A short distance from Mount Cornacchia, which at 1,151 meters is the highest peak in Puglia, it is ideal for hiking and birdwatching. Another recommended excursion is to Lake Pescara, a natural body of water surrounded by woods, perfect for picnics and rejuvenating walks.
Although located in the hills, the Adriatic coast is not far away. The beaches of the Gulf of Manfredonia and the first coves of the Gargano are about an hour and 15 minutes away by car (about 70-80 km).
The capital is about 296 km away. The journey by car takes less than 4 hours, making it a feasible destination for a long weekend away.
