On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Vallerano will once again be transformed into a timeless scene. The Night of the Candles returns for its nineteenth edition, and this year it brings with it an ambitious theme: The Four Seasons, a symbolic journey through the cycle of life and the emotions that mark it.
The Candle Event in Vallerano (just over an hour from Rome)
As they do every year, the residents of this village in the province of Viterbo will carefully arrange over 100,000 candles throughout the alleys, squares, and scenic spots of the historic center—a collective effort that transforms Vallerano into something truly unique on the Italian summer events scene. Every corner becomes a stage, every light an invitation to pause.
The narrative will unfold in four movements: spring, with its floral charm and the promise of rebirth; summer, brimming with energy and music; fall, with its intimate and melancholic atmosphere; and winter, with its silence and luminous magic. Guiding visitors along this journey will be actors, storytellers, and performers, accompanied by theatrical performances, concerts, live performances, and immersive installations that will bring a multisensory experience to life.
Doors open at 6:00 p. m. The detailed program is available on the event’s official website.
The Night of the Candles is the grand finale of the Piccole Serenate Notturne festival, which for twenty-six years has enlivened summer evenings in Vallerano, attracting thousands of visitors from all over Italy and abroad. The event is conceived and organized by the Notte delle Candele Association of Vallerano, under the artistic direction of Maurizio Gregori.
